Curious collectors carried all sorts of treasures to the basement of Town Hall to learn more about them as well as to share the ups and downs of what they might be worth on the antique market. While not everyone walked away delighted that they had found a "hidden" treasure, everyone learned a lot about what makes an object valuable to collectors.

Mary Westcott from Kaminski Auctioneers of Beverly provided the expert and entertaining commentary for each of the items, which ranged from large framed artwork to tiny paper back books.

One must never forget, of course, that the real value of any treasure is in the eye of the beholder. Nevertheless, enthusiastic guests enjoyed a special night of discovery that rivaled the popular Channel 2 program.

The night was a huge success for the Historical Society. Everyone learned a lot about their prized possessions, enjoyed the light-hearted exchange and were able to support the nonprofit group at the same time. Don't miss the chance to join us next time!
