"To study the history of the town of Stoneham..." is our primary mission at the Stoneham Historical Society. Although Stoneham has always been a small New England town, its history reaches back to the dawn of English settlement in the region.  The Town's compact geographical area (i.e., one third of its 6 square miles of territory falls into the beautiful and historic Middlesex Fells Reservation) has meant that its residents of all classes have always lived in close community with one another.  Over the course of the past 400 years, the people of Stoneham have been witness to every major historical event in American History.
